Fees & Payment Policy

This policy is a part of our Terms of Use. By opening a Pleazo shop, you’re agreeing to this policy and our Terms of Use.

  1. Types of Fees
  2. Fee Avoidance
  3. EU rules on Consumer Rights

1. Types of Fees

When selling on Pleazo, there are a 3 fees sellers should know about:

  • Membership plan fee
  • Sales fee %
  • PayPal transaction processing fees

VAT charged by Pleazo to sellers: Depending on your local VAT legislation, we may charge VAT on our sales fee % and membership plans. In cases where we don’t charge VAT, you may be required to calculate and report VAT yourself to your local tax authority (ie. reverse charge).

For more information please visit our guide on Information About VAT & Taxes.

  • Membership Plan Fee

Pleazo membership plans are made for sellers who want to list & sell their products on Pleazo.com. We offer 3 types of membership plans for sellers based on how many items they will like to list for sale. For more info, please check out our membership plans for the fees.

All membership plans are available to sellers located in the EU. Please read our guide on Who Can Open A Shop On Pleazo to see if you meet the requirements to open your shop & get a membership plan. If a user who does not meet the requirements but buys a Pleazo membership plan, the original PayPal transaction fee & PayPal return transaction fee will not be refunded.

Auto-renew/recurring. Paid membership plans costs will be charged to your PayPal account starting from the day you buy the membership plan.

  • Sales Fees

When you make a sale through Pleazo.com, you will be charged a sales fee of 6% of the sale of the product (ie. not including cost of shipping, tax or payment gateway fees of your order).

Sales fees are deducted from your order as each sale occurs.

**Pricing your products: Items listed on Pleazo cannot exceed prices of the same item elsewhere.

  • It’s not allowed to mark up your prices on Pleazo so that the products are offered cheaper elsewhere.
  • The pricing of your product should be based on the base price plus the % fee and any additional fees charged.

This assures a fair price for all your customers on all online platforms where your product can be purchased.

Failure to do so can result in your product or account being deleted on Pleazo.

  • PayPal Transaction Processing Fees

PayPal transaction processing fees are automatically deducted from your order. The fee amount depends on: amount of the product in the order, countries involved in the sale.

2. Fee Avoidance

Membership Plans:

Any action by a seller to avoid paying a membership plan fee is strictly prohibited by Pleazo. This includes, for example, opening up more than 1 free membership plan to be able to list more products instead of paying for the paid membership plans. Any shops doing this will be barred.

Sales Fee:

Any action by a seller to avoid paying a sales fee is considered fee avoidance and is strictly prohibited by Pleazo. This includes, for example, encouraging buyers to purchase an item in your Pleazo shop through another venue. A transaction initiated on Pleazo may not be completed off of Pleazo.

Asking users to pay with another payment method than Pleazo’s payment gateway is not allowed.

The price stated in each listing description must be an accurate representation of the sale. Sellers may not alter the item’s price after a sale for the purpose of avoiding Pleazo sales fees, misrepresent the item’s location, or use another user’s account without permission.

Example: For example. If you had a 20.00 item, and listed it for 1.00 but charged 20.00 shipping because Pleazo doesn’t take it’s commission on shipping, that would be fee avoidance.

3. EU rules on Consumer Rights

The Consumer Rights Directive gives consumers the same strong rights across the EU. It aligns and harmonises national consumer rules, for example on the information consumers need to be given before they purchase something, and their right to cancel online purchases, wherever they shop in the EU.

Based on the EU Consumer Rights Directive, seller’s must do the following:

  • Increased price transparency

Sellers have to disclose the total cost of the product or service, as well as any extra fees. Online shoppers will not have to pay charges or other costs if they were not properly informed before they place an order.

  • Eliminating surcharges for the use of payment transaction fees

Sellers will not be able to charge consumers more for paying by credit card (or other means of payment) than what it actually costs the seller to offer such means of payment.

For more info, please visit the Consumer Rights Directive guide.
