How To Improve SEO For Your Shop

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is an important process that can help improve the visibility of your shop and item listings in search engine results for sites like Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

SEO can be complicated. Search engines frequently change the way terms are searched, as well as the criteria for what comes up in a search. There isn’t a way to promise that your shop will appear at the top of Google search results. However, there are some best practices that you can use to help improve your shop’s SEO.

Guide:

  1. Improve SEO for your shop
  2. Improve SEO for your products

1. Improve SEO for your shop

SEO title: This is how the title of your shop will be shown in search engines. Recommended title length is 50 – 60 characters. Example: “*your shop name* I Pleazo” (ie. Dildo Queen I Pleazo).

Meta description: This is how the description of your shop will be shown in search engines. Recommended title length is 155 – 160 characters. *Tip: We recommend briefly describing your shop and the items you sell. Some shops make a tagline or slogan*. Please note Goolge may sometimes show another description they feel may suit the searcher based on what they searched for.

Meta keywords: Target the keywords you want to show up for when people search for them on search engines. Separate each keyword with a coma. Example: *shop name*, *product categories*, *city*, *country*, pleazo

Get more links to your Pleazo shop: The number and quality of in-bound links to a page is important. In short: you want people to be writing about your shop, as well as linking to your Pleazo shop page. This helps search engines know that people are interested in your shop. Consider linking to your Pleazo shop from your online shop, personal blog, social media pages and networking with other sites to get them to feature your.

2. Improve SEO for your products

When creating or editing a product:

Title (product title): This is how the title of your product will be shown in Pleazo, on search engines. Please keep titles 40 characters or under to avoid the title from cutting off. *Tip: Clearly describe your item at the beginning of the item title. Use keywords you think a shopper may search. Example: Vegan leather chest body harness w/ belt.

Description: Search engines look at a page’s full content. Be sure to describe your item well, using your keywords and providing details about the item. Briefly describe your item in the first sentence of your description. Use keywords that you think shoppers will search to find your items. Recommended title length is 160 characters.

SEO for Photos:

Alt text: Each image should have an alt text. Google places a relatively high value on alt text to determine what is on the image.

The alt text describes what’s on the image. Try to include keywords about your product such as: colour, size, product, your shop name, ect.  Example: if you are selling a pair of black underwear with a rainbow on it, then your alt text could be “black underwear with rainbow print”. Another example is if you sell a purple dildo made out of silicone, the alt text could be “soft purple silicone dildo”.

Also, don’t forget to change the image file name to be something actually describing what’s on it (you can name it the same as your alt text. Having your image named something as “IMG_722019” does not tell search engines what your image is about.

Title: Give your image a title. This could be the name of your product.

Caption: This is the text that will show if a user hoovers over the image (optional)

Description: Give your image a description. This could be the short description of your product.

File URL: Leave as is.
